Now Trending....2013
FINALLY! With all the award shows now behind us -- all the fashion glitz, glitches and glamour tried and judged....it is now time to focus on the real world. I mean, it was nice seeing all the latest and greatest designs and all the stars wearing them (although styled) either very well or not so well at all. And I need to mention that the Grammy Awards BORED ME, FASHIONABLY. That was the show that could have just aired online and not wasted any network time slots (just saying). I really don't watch to see who has won. I watch the red carpet.
I admit, I'm a bit self-centered right now. I am ready to think about Spring and what I need to add to my personal wardrobe! No one else really matters right now - just my clothing obsession! I normally don't follow trends but I do notice what is trending in stores and on websites. When I do have time to catch a runway video or Fashion Police, I pick up on the newest and hottest. I've decided muted pinks and tangerine are my new fave colors - -they look nice on just about anyone's skin but especially on my dark skin. I'm wearing a muted pink top today as a matter of fact *pats self on back*!
My upcoming Fashion Show "IN THOSE JEANS; Fashion for Autism", will feature some bold colors, prints and contrasting. These are all the latest in runway trends that I so happened to arrange by accident -- I am good like that! I also have some sheer and some structured pieces in the mix with a tiny bit of pattern. I mixed it up quite a bit. And that is the art and beauty of Spring 2013. Mixing, matching, contrasting.... Suits are still fierce this spring and Asian inspired ensembles in beautiful patterns and collages. I found you some nice examples -- my fave picks from some of my fave designers straight from the runway. Now Trending....2013: Checkout the latest from the runway -

March 9 (from 4pm - 7pm) I have this little event coming up called SUCCESS & EMPOWERMENT. I rented out a little space in the Middle East Restaurant in Cambridge's Central Square (770 Massachusetts Ave) and invited some select people to come take part in this unique mixer. I run Nilanjo! Fashion Entertainment and it is important that in addition to fashion events we produce events that represent our motto: Encouragement. Empowerment. Inspiration. The event is only $15 - visit www.successandempowerment.eventbrite.com for ticket information and purchases. We are bringing something new and exciting to our friends, supporters and affiliates where they can come mix it up and mingle with us while enjoying music, food, fun and words of motivation and empowerment from Guest Speaker, Dhylles Davis. Dhylles is a Certified Life Coach & Business Consultant from New York who (alongside hubby, Dennis Davis)was recently featured on the Dr. OZ Show. Dhylles Davis is Child of God, Survivor of Child Abuse, Phenomenal Woman, Wife, Professional Life Changer, Certified Life Coach & Entrepreneur Consultant. She operates Dhylles Davis Coaching and Consulting Services as well as a successful modeling and fashion agency (Katwalk Katerers). Nilanjo! will also have a presentation from Hilda Fernandez of MAHA (Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance), Jessica Pomare for ABCD Health Services and Kareem Matthews for Motor Club of America.
People often do not know about the local resources available in their own communities. At this event, it will be all under one roof - info on home ownership, independence, success, educational and personal services as well as info on upcoming fashion & entertainment events in the Boston area! Like the April 20th Fashion Show being held by C'est Magnifique. Their fashion show is being held at The Holiday Inn Hotel Boston - Somerville located on 30 Washington St, Somerville, Massachusetts 02143 on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 7:30PM-9:30PM - Doors open at 7:30PM and VIP cocktail hour from 6-7PM.
