MUST HAVE FALL BOOTS - 2012

Happy October Fashion Bugs! You gotta love the crisp air, the colorful leaves and walking into stores to smell cinnamon and pumpkin scents. I don't however enjoy seeing the Christmas decorations out already. Gee, we have Halloween and Thanksgiving coming...how did we bypass those and jump into sleigh bells and Christmas trees? Ironically I say this yet I am ready to get into boots and winter trends. That is what I do, after all. I am supposed to stay ahead of the seasons-- so I can't then fault the retailers for doing so. Some people are proactive and want to get a jump on their seasonal shopping. I saw some ladies rocking boots during the summer though. Not sure if they were being proactive or making an attempt to be fashion forward. I just know I wasn't a fan of that look at all and I am still no fan of Uggs or Ugg-type footwear...also still being worn in the summer. I won't gas face anyone else who rocks them but it's not MY thing #FreedomofFashion #SelfExpression. Do your thing and do you - always. Well, I've been blog surfing and trend spotting. I am always led to my fave magazine whether online or at the newstands. Vogue states: "the best armor for the season is a pair of fully functional and supremely stylish boots". I have to agree! I love boots because they not only keep my legs and feet warm in this New England weather but they tend to transform an outfit taking it to dressed up feel (i.e.some nice stiletto heel boots paired with a pencil skirt) or can add that unexpected high fashion look with just the right amount of fur trim or python skin detail. I also like the "biker" look with studs and buckles. Boots can also offer a comfortable option to an evening stiletto. I'm loving the granny-lace up looks right. The chunky heels? Not so much. Wedge heels? I can dig em. I will always be a classic stiletto girl. I am also now making my way into flats. I love the flat riding boots. Coach and Michael Kors has some great options out for these right now in fact (hint to Hubby --size 9 please). There are so many colors, styles and heights to play with. The stacked heel and platform heel are still in effect for the Fall. Height is still an authority. I can't do more than 4.5 inches. I can force 5 with a platform heel. But I know my limit. I'm told as I get older I will stop running to the heels and start taking stock in Sketchers. I seriously doubt it. My sciatica hasn't stopped me so I doubt the arthritis and aging knees will set me back. I'll wear em while sitting in my blinged-out wheel chair that dons a bumper sticker that says "Fashion Diva 4 Life". If you know me personally, you can probably picture this.
However you rock yours, boots have many lives. How do you know which boots works for you? I say the only way to find out is to try on a pair. Test them with jeans, leggings, skirts, underneath slacks (ankle boots are your friend) -- see if they fit your lifestyle and wardrobe. Well it's not like women are known for wearing practical shoes -- we tend to sacrifice comfort for style. The one thing I hate about women and shoes is when a woman is wearing a nice pair of shoes or boots and they can't walk in them. If you can't at least front in them, don't wear them. You destroy the fashion integrity of that footwear. I'm an advocate for the footwear - not your poor squished, swollen feet (don't judge me). Boots are no different but still there are so many options these days you really can find style and comfort (and utility). Vogue.com has compiled 55 Boot Trends for your convenience.
