FALL In Love With FALL!

Can you believe Summer is almost over? I mean the days are already getting shorter....the mornings are getting cooler...and every store is having a "back to school" sale or a summer clearance. I am not complaining, I am a Libra afterall and that means I am a Fall baby! I love the crisp air and cool temperatures. I truly can't wait to break out my jackets, leathers and cute boots. Right now, fashion designers are pushing out their Spring 2013 looks and Fall 2012 has already previewed. This Fall season the runway seems to be conveying a message of empowerment. The best designers in New York, London and abroad are showing strong, fashion-forward, unique ways of dressing. Looks are very polished and powerful, with major embellishment, metallic sheen, geometric prints, rich color as well as bold colors, and lots of coats. Why coats? Because when the temperature drops, what will you be wearing most of the time...a COAT. And so it should look just as fabulous as what you are wearing under it. I also notice that it seems that the color pallet from Summer is being effectively captured and transitioning into Fall. This is great news for those of you who are sad to see Summer go bye-bye. I'll be honest, my Fall and Winter color staples have always been black, greys and browns; and they still are. Over time I have begun introducing splashes of color to my neutrals. I found that little pops of color lifts my mood. And oh yes I went all out for the Spring and Summer -- I made sure I lived through my colors and inserted fun, mood changing prints and colors. This Fall season, I will introduce richer colors, some nice leathers and luxurious velvet (yes I said velvet). Fashion is about individuality and you can't determine what your indivdual style is unless you experiment. I hear way too often from women I know how they don't wear certain styles or colors because it's "not them" yet they have never tried to wear it -- or if they did try it, they wore it the way they saw in on a mannequin or in a magazine and not in a manner which suited them. I'm not saying to go out and get an entire wardrobe. A piece here and there won't kill you or your budget. Play with things and try a little at a time. Too often trends are not worn properly then the person is soured on fashion aside from the old reliable. You can't wear items the way you see them on the runway. They are styled to fit the model not styled to fit you and your life style. Experiment, enjoy and be empowered. When you look good, you feel good. And what feels better than a new, hot, fashion forward item-- I can't think of anything. Like I said, I love Fall! I am most inspired in Fall and I do most of my shopping in the Fall (even for Summer items for the next year). I'm always on the hunt and you should be too. Break in the incomng season with a few new pieces....something embellished or something metallic or something leather in a classic cut but a trendy hue. Seriously -- try it, you might like it !
